Kerbal Space Program 2 is a space flight simulation game developed by Intercept Games and published by Private Division. Launching into early access in 2023, it builds upon the original with improved visuals, better onboarding for new players, and planned features including interstellar travel, colonies, and multiplayer. The game features overhauled tutorials that make rocket science more accessible while maintaining the deep orbital mechanics the series is known for. New parts, improved building tools, and next-generation terrain systems expand creative possibilities. While the early access launch received mixed reception due to performance issues and limited content compared to the modded original, the game represents an ambitious vision for the future of space simulation games.

Kerbal Space Program 2 is one of the most disappointing sequels in recent gaming memory. Launching into early access with severe performance issues, missing features, and less content than the decade-old original, it failed to justify its existence from day one. The improved tutorials and onboarding are genuinely welcome additions, and the visual upgrade is noticeable, but these cannot compensate for the fundamental problems: poor frame rates even on powerful hardware, buggy physics, and the absence of promised features like colonies, interstellar travel, and multiplayer. The development was ultimately cancelled with Intercept Games closing before the game could reach its vision. What remains is an incomplete, inferior version of the original KSP at a premium price point. The ambition was laudable -- interstellar travel and colonization would have been transformative -- but ambition without execution means little. Players seeking space simulation should stick with the original KSP and its excellent modding community.
