Pac-Man 256 is a clever reinterpretation of the arcade classic that transforms the familiar maze-chase formula into an endless runner with surprising depth. The scrolling glitch wall chasing you from below creates constant forward momentum and genuine tension, while the power-up system adds modern strategic layers to the dot-chomping gameplay. Lasers, tornadoes, and freeze abilities feel satisfying and provide meaningful choice in how you approach each run. The visual style strikes a nice balance between retro homage and contemporary polish. Local co-op for up to four players adds social appeal. However, the game is ultimately a mobile port, and the gameplay depth has a clear ceiling. Runs begin to feel samey after extended play, and the lack of meaningful progression or variety in environments limits long-term engagement. It is a fun, well-crafted arcade experience best enjoyed in short sessions, but it does not have the staying power of the greatest endless games.
